A note on the failure of Payne's inequality on manifolds with boundary

Abstract: We show that Payne's conjecture on the comparison between Dirichlet Laplacian eigenvalues and buckling eigenvalues does not hold on flat and hyperbolic cylindrical surfaces and on (round) hemispheres.
