The Political-Institutional Spectrum of Eros: A Structural Taxonomy of Plato's Symposium
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: This paper proposes that the seven speeches of Plato’s Symposium are arranged not as a casual literary sequence but as a deliberate political-institutional spectrum, wherein Eros functions as an a priori diagnostic sensor of civilizational petrification. Grounded in a structural synthesis of classical political philosophy, the work maps the seven participants from the extreme right (Phaedrus) through technocratic and institutional balances, across the traumatic anthropological hinge (Aristophanes), to the radical emancipatory left (Socrates/Diotima) and the embodied empirical rupture (Alcibiades). Intellectual priority and original theoretical architecture are asserted under the authorship of Seyed Ehsan Pishva.
