Abstract: This study focused on the relationship between price (charges) and performance of Federal Universities in SouthEast Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive Survey design. Questionnaire was used as the instrument of data collection. The data collected were presented in tables and analysed using simple percentage, Bar Chart, Mean Statistic and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (at 0.05% level of significance). The study revealed that there is significant nexus between price (charges) and students’ enrollment; and there is significant relationship between price (charges) and students graduation period. The study therefore concludes that price (charges) are not merely promotional tool but an operational framework for students attraction and overall performance of the universities. Based on the findings, it was recommended that University managements should transition from rigid, lump-sum fee regimes to flexible, installment-based payment models. Allowing split payments across semesters mitigates student financial dropouts, reduces deferred admissions, and prevents academic disruptions hat delay graduation. Also, to counteract the negative impact of school fees on graduation timelines, universities should set up robust, internally generated revenue (IGR)-funded bursaries, emergency loan and expanded campus work-study programs. This keeps economically vulnerable students on track for graduation.
