Periodic optical variability of the known white dwarf WD J2101+2935

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: A research note reporting periodic optical variability of the known DC white dwarf WD J2101+2935 (Gaia DR3 1846405001739893376). Original ZTF photometry and independently acquired Pan-STARRS images support a preferred photometric repetition period of approximately 71.3153 minutes with a strong second harmonic. The variability was not found previously reported in the specific catalogues and literature examined. No new physical star, measured rotation, orbital period, magnetic field, unique mechanism or absolute discovery priority is claimed. The reproducibility package provides retrieved observations, analysis code, source-localization checks, query provenance, scientific limitations and SHA-256 inventories. Original survey/data/software rights and acknowledgements are retained. CC BY 4.0 applies to the author’s original text, derived analysis and figures; it does not relicense third-party material. OpenAI Codex assisted archival searches, code, verification, visualization and drafting. No synthetic astronomical observations were generated. This is an independent observational preprint; no independent specialist review or journal acceptance is claimed.
