Open Pedagogy, Student-Created AI Literacy Resources, and Repository-Based Knowledge Sharing

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Module Description This module combines open pedagogy, renewable assignments, reflective practice, AI literacy, collaborative learning, student-generated knowledge, peer review, open licensing, and repository-based dissemination, based on the Repositories of AI Literacy Resources (RAILR) concept. The module is primarily designed for undergraduate students, although it can be adapted for other educational levels depending on the instructor's teaching goals. It can be delivered as a standalone module, an elective, or with its learning activities incorporated into an existing course. The central purpose of the module is to move students beyond being consumers of AI literacy guidance resources to becoming creators. Through reflection on their own experiences of using generative AI tools, discussion with peers, collaborative resource development, peer review, and open dissemination, students can develop AI literacy resources that can benefit other learners. Instructors are not required to treat every activity as compulsory, except when implementing the module as a full course or an elective. Instead, instructors can select and adapt the activities according to their course objectives, teaching goals, available teaching time, student numbers, and preferred or feasible mode of delivery. Learning Outcomes By the end of this module, students should be able to: Explain the concept of open pedagogy and distinguish it from traditional approaches to teaching and learning. Explain the relationship between open pedagogy and renewable assignments. Differentiate between disposable and renewable assignments. Explain AI literacy Describe the importance of AI literacy for the responsible use of generative AI tools. Critically reflect on their own experiences using generative AI tools. Learn from the experiences of other students through collaborative activities. Transform personal and shared experiences into AI literacy resources. Collaboratively develop AI literacy resources suitable for open dissemination. Develop AI literacy resources for dissemination through Repositories of AI Literacy Resources (RAILR). Target Audience Level: Undergraduate Adaptable for other levels depending on instructors' teaching goals. Suitable as a standalone module or as an elective Module Outline This module is organised into the following sections: Section 1: Purpose of This Module Section 2: Open Pedagogy: From Disposable Assignments to Shared Knowledge Section 3: Learning from Experience: Why Students' Experiences with Generative AI Tools Matter Section 4: From Reflection to Resource Creation: Transforming Experience into AI Literacy Resources Section 5: Repository-Based Knowledge Sharing: Preserving and Disseminating Student-Created AI Literacy Resources in RAILR Section 6: Reflecting on Your AI Journey: Learning Through Personal Experience Section 7: Practical Learning Activities Practical Activity 1: My AI Journey Practical Activity 2: Learning from Others Practical Activity 3: Co-Creating an AI Literacy Resource Practical Activity 4: Peer Review, Improvement, and Dissemination Practical Activity 5: Complete the Appropriate RAILR Dissemination Agreement Practical Activity 6: Open Dissemination of AI Literacy Resources Section 8. Learning and Reading Resources Assessment Students will complete a series of reflective, collaborative, and resource-development activities. Depending on the instructor's implementation of the module, assessment may include: An individual reflective essay. Participation in collaborative group discussions. Development of a group AI literacy resource. Peer review of another group's AI literacy resource. Preparation of resources for dissemination through RAILR
