Neurometabolic Phenotype of Torch-associated Autism in Children
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: TORCH infections acquired during the prenatal period are regarded as one of the key factors in the development of secondary forms of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) associated with organic damage to the central nervous system. Infectious and inflammatory injury to the fetal brain leads to persistent neuronal and metabolic disturbances, resulting in a distinct clinical and biochemical variant of autism characterised by high severity and a low potential for compensation.
