The Automated Administration Magazine

Year: 2026
Type: book
Abstract: This magazine disseminates project results from a four-year research project on governance of AI and automated decision-making in the public sector. The Automated Administration (ADM-GOV) is a project with researchers from Swedish and Finnish universities, led by Lund University and funded by the Future Challenges in the Nordics Programme. For the past four years, we have been studying how AI and automated decision-making (ADM) can be implemented in the public sector without undermining fundamental rights, good governance, and trust in public institutions. You find results from studies on various related aspects reported on in this magazine – in articles, commentaries and interviews. In addition, given the impact AI tools have on the very means for production of texts, images and graphic design, in what we think of as a formative period, a secondary purpose with this magazine has been to conduct a meta exploration of normative boundaries of how AI impacts human creative output. By pointing to normative boundaries, we argue that some of the changes in norms – legal but importantly also informally social – are somewhat blurry at the moment, and in need of clarifying explorations.
