HTS Wireless Power Transfer Architecture: Elimination of Dominant Losses Through Superconducting State Transition

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Conventional Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems are fundamentally constrained by ohmic (I²R) losses in metallic conductors, establishing an efficiency ceiling typically limited to 80-85%. This document presents the HTS Altea-Garay WPT Architecture, a next-generation power transmission framework that implements a material state transition rather than a control-layer optimization. By operating both transmitter and reception elements in a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) regime (utilizing YBCO/Bi-2223 materials), resistive dissipation is suppressed at its physical root. Combined with an integrated compact micro-cryocooler and advanced electromagnetic field shaping, the system achieves receiver capture efficiencies exceeding 99.7% and total infrastructure-grade efficiencies >99.0% over operating ranges of 5 to 10 meters. A falsifiable validation protocol utilizing frequency sweeps, Quality Factor (Q) signatures, and strict negative controls is defined to benchmark performance against conventional copper references.
