Specifics of Pedagogical Communication When Using the LEGO® Serious Play® Method: Spatial Projections and Social Identity
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: : Pedagogical communication remains a relevant topic for scientific research and for its manifestations in schools; it manifests itself at various levels, some of which have not been sufficiently studied. These include manifestations related to the use of modern methods in educational settings characterized by specific urban and social realities, where the students are from minority groups. Thе article examines the processes of social identity formation, spatial perception, and the construction of desirable futures among 15 children in pre-adolescent and early adolescent age groups (3rd–7th grade) living under conditions of urban marginalization and infrastructural deprivation in the Filipovtsi neighborhood of Sofia. The study was conducted at 103 “Vasil Levski” School through the application of the innovative projective methodology LEGO® Serious Play® (LSP) from February until June 2026. The analysis of the empirical data reveals a complex configuration of collectivist attitudes, intra-group stratification, and a profound longing for institutional order, security, and the aestheticization of the living environment. The findings challenge traditional assumptions regarding social apathy within vulnerable groups and demonstrate the existence of an active – albeit specifically coded – civic consciousness that seeks legitimation through symbols of statehood, technological control, and ecological restoration. Keywords: pedagogical communication, projective methods, LEGO Serious Play, social identity, spatial segregation.
