The External Player Hypothesis: A Philosophical Model of Simulated Reality and Independent Lives

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This work presents the External Player Hypothesis, a philosophical model in which physical reality may be understood as a simulated environment experienced through a human avatar. The model proposes a possible external consciousness, a brain functioning as an adaptive interface between intention and the constraints of the simulated world, and the transmission of experiences and emotions to the external player. Each life is treated as an independent run, without transfer of memories, skills, or personal qualities from previous runs. The hypothesis explores questions of consciousness, memory, free will, identity, morality, and the meaning of life. It is presented as a speculative philosophical framework, not as an established scientific theory. Author: No.RD! Version: 1.0 Note: This publication documents a particular formulation of the hypothesis. It does not establish that the hypothesis is true or that no similar ideas existed previously.
