Abstract: Since the colonial capitalism imposed by Europe on Indigenous peoples in Latin America, practices of extractivism, dispossession, and resistance have persisted throughout the centuries. Common patterns can be identified in countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador, where territories, cultures, and ways of life are under constant threat. Nevertheless, Indigenous knowledge and environmental practices carried out by local communities are also made visible and deserve recognition and appreciation. In this way, in the face of the civilizational crisis we are experiencing, there exists a symbolic value of ethical and epistemic significance that is essential for sustaining human life.
