Abstract: This study aimed to improve the participation of fifth-grade students at SDN Gunung Parang through the implementation of growth mindset-based Star Rewards. The study employed Classroom Action Research using the Kemmis & McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles of three meetings each, involving 27 students. Data were collected through observation & documentation. Student participation was assessed across five aspects: visual activities, oral activities, listening activities, writing activities, & emotional activities. In Cycle I, Star Rewards were given to appreciate students’ positive behaviors during learning. Based on the reflection results, the intervention was improved in Cycle II by developing five growth mindset-based reward categories: Brave to Try, Brave to Speak, Focused Listening, Never Give Up, & Keep Growing. The results showed that the average student participation increased from 61.02% in Cycle I to 82.04% in Cycle II, representing an increase of 21.02 percentage points. Improvement occurred across all observed participation aspects, while teacher activity increased from 77.50% to 92.50%. These findings indicate that growth mindset-based Star Rewards can improve student participation by recognizing students’ courage, effort, perseverance, & progress throughout the learning process.
