Abstract: Description This document is a Diplomatic Note (Response) from the Executive Office of the Head of State of the Republic of the Falkland Islands to the Executive Office of the Republic of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, accepting the establishment of formal diplomatic relations and mutual recognition between the two States. The Diplomatic Note formally: Acknowledges receipt of the Diplomatic Note from the Republic of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (RGBNI) dated June 17, 2026 (Reference: RGBNI-DN-2026-003), which proposed the establishment of diplomatic relations and mutual recognition; Accepts mutual recognition between the Republic of the Falkland Islands (RFI) and the Republic of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (RGBNI) as sovereign, independent, and equal states under international law, based on their compliance with the Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States (1933), and their shared commitment to the principles of the Global Government Association; Confirms the immediate establishment of full diplomatic relations between the two States, to be governed by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961); Confirms that the exchange of diplomatic notes constitutes the formal instrument for establishing and recording this relationship; Expresses its intention to cooperate in further bilateral treaties on matters of mutual interest, including friendship, extradition, mutual defence, and economic cooperation; Confirms acceptance of all terms set forth in the original Diplomatic Note, thereby placing the two States in full diplomatic relations. This Diplomatic Note completes the mutual recognition agreement between the Republic of the Falkland Islands and the Republic of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, establishing a precedent for future bilateral and multilateral agreements.
