Quantum Wormholes: Lab Construction via Entanglement and Negative Energy — E8 Intelligence Research
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: FINDING: Traversable wormholes are now theoretically constructible in the lab via quantum entanglement and negative energy, with multi-mouth generalizations revealing free-group topology. | MATH: The core mechanism is the Gao–Jafferis–Wall (GJW) protocol: coupling two boundaries of an AdS black hole with a double-trace deformation \( \delta H = g \int dt \, O_L(t) O_R(-t) \), where \( g \) is the coupling. This injects negative energy density \( \rho < 0 \) into the interior, shifting the horizon outward and making the wormhole traversable. The key ratio is the scrambling time \( t_* = \frac{\beta}{2\pi} \ln S \), where \( \beta = 1/T \) (inverse temperature) and \( S \) is the entropy — the wormhole opens only after this timescale. Multi-mouth case (arXiv:2012.07821) uses \( n \) boundaries with pairwise couplings \( g_{ij} \), yielding a fundamental group \( \pi_1 = F_{n-1} \) (free group on \( n-1 \) generators) for \( n \) mouths. | CONNECTION: The scrambling time \( t_* \) contain Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
