Abstract: This study aimed to improve reading comprehension skills through the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) model assisted by serial pictures among third-grade students. This research employed Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings. The subjects were 12 third-grade students. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively by comparing students’ reading comprehension skills during the pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The results showed an improvement in students’ reading comprehension skills following the implementation of the DRTA model assisted by serial pictures. In the pre-cycle, the students’ average score was 58.75, with a mastery percentage of 33.33%. In Cycle I, the average score increased to 72.50, with a mastery percentage of 66.67%. In Cycle II, the average score further increased to 84.17, with a mastery percentage of 91.67%. Therefore, the implementation of the DRTA model assisted by serial pictures improved the reading comprehension skills of third-grade students.
