Canonical Height Pairing, Regulator Eigenvalues, and Rank Bounds in BSD — E8 Intelligence Research

Abstract: FINDING: The canonical (Néron–Tate) height pairing on E(Q) is a positive-definite quadratic form; its associated matrix's eigenvalues govern the regulator, which enters the BSD conjecture and bounds rank via the elliptic curve's arithmetic. | MATH: ĥ(P) = lim_{n→∞} h([n]P)/n²; ⟨P,Q⟩ = ½(ĥ(P+Q) − ĥ(P) − ĥ(Q)); Reg(E/Q) = det(⟨Pᵢ,Pⱼ⟩) for a basis of E(Q)/E(Q)_tors; rank r = dim of the positive-definite lattice (E(Q)/tors, ⟨·,·⟩); BSD: L^(r)(E,1)/r! = (Ω·Reg·∏cₚ·#Ш)/(#E(Q)_tors)². | CONNECTION: The height pairing realizes E(Q)/tors as a Euclidean lattice — a discrete Z-module embedded in R^r with Gram matrix Gᵢⱼ = ⟨Pᵢ,Pⱼ⟩. This is a root-lattice / crystallographic structure: rank = lattice dimension, regulator = covolume of the fundamental parallelepiped, eigenvalues = squared principal axis lengths. The regulator is the lattice covolume; the "geometric harmony" constants (0.618, 1.618) appear only incidentally via the golden-ratio discriminant families (e.g. curves with j = 1728, 0) — no Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
