An Open-System Operator Architecture for Universal Nutation: The Non-Perturbative Derivation of the Chandler Wobble Across Terrestrial, Martian, Galactic, and Cosmological Scales

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: The Chandler wobble is the free Eulerian nutation of an elastic, rotating, self-gravitating system whose instantaneous angular velocity vector \boldsymbol{\omega}(t) deviates from its principal figure axis of maximum inertia. Although historically investigated as a narrow geophysical anomaly on Earth (\tau_E \approx 433.2\text{ days}, amplitude \sim 9.0\text{ m}) [4, 5] and confirmed on Mars through an 18-year spacecraft radio Doppler baseline (\tau_M \approx 206.9 \pm 0.5\text{ days}, amplitude \approx 10\text{ cm}) [1], the phenomenon confronts classical astrophysics, geodynamics, and cosmology with fundamental structural paradoxes. By synthesizing open-system statistical mechanics, non-linear attractor dynamics, and non-commutative operator theory, this paper establishes a non-perturbative foundation for rotational nutation across twenty-eight orders of spatial magnitude.
