Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Systematic Review
Abstract: Verbal bullying is still common in elementary schools and may reduce victims' self-confidence. This study aims to determine the impact of verbal bullying on elementary school students' self-confidence using a Study Literature Review (SLR) method. This literature study analyzed national journal articles published from 2021 to 2026. Data were obtained from Google Scholar and national journal portals using the keywords verbal bullying, self-confidence, and elementary school. Through inclusion and exclusion criteria, 7 articles were obtained. The results showed that 71% of the articles reported negative effects on self-confidence or students' psychological condition, while 29% reported effects that vary among victims. The dominant forms of verbal bullying were teasing, negative nicknames, and insults about physical condition and ability. These findings may help teachers prevent verbal bullying and protect students' self-confidence.
