Consumer Trust in Organic Labels: Perceptions of Authenticity and Fraud Risks

Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: The success of products in international markets depends heavily on how much consumers trust organic labeling. To understand how these factors shape trust and buying habits this study looks at how people see the authenticity of labeling and the risk of fraud. The study uses a mixed methods approach with surveys and interviews to find elements that build trust, such as brand reputation, awareness of regulatory standards and openness of certification procedures. The research shows that while consumers usually think organic labels mean sustainability and quality their trust can be weakened by worries about claims and weak regulation. The study also shows how social media stories and different demographic groups influence trust levels. This research points to ways to strengthen the credibility of labeling like stricter laws, independent verification and community efforts to help the organic industry grow profitably. Policymakers, certification bodies and marketers who want to raise consumer confidence in goods will find this study very useful.
