Abstract: The social-emotional development of individuals with intellectual disabilities refers to their capacity to understand and manage emotions, as well as to engage in social interactions with others. This study aims to examine the role of symbolic play therapy in the social-emotional development of fourth-grade students with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB Jenetallasa. The study employs a Single-Subject Research (SSR) methodology, specifically an A-B-A design, which consists of three phases: A1 (baseline 1), B (intervention), and A2 (baseline 2). Data were collected through tests and observations. The results indicate that the mean score for social-emotional functioning was 1.60 prior to the symbolic play therapy, and it increased to a mean score of 5.70 following the intervention.
