Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the structural relationships among coaching styles in an AI-based rehabilitation exercise program, grit, mindset, and dropout intention among rehabilitation exercise participants. The participants consisted of 624 individuals with disabilities who were participating in AI-based rehabilitation exercise programs at welfare centers for people with disabilities and rehabilitation hospitals. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0.Frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM) were conducted. The results showed that autonomy-supportive coaching style had positive effects on grit and mindset and a negative effect on dropout intention. In contrast, controlling coaching style did not have a significant effect on grit but had a negative effect on mindset and a positive effect on dropout intention. In addition, both grit and mindset were found to have significant negative effects on dropout intention. These findings suggest that the coaching style implemented in AI-based rehabilitation exercise programs plays an important role in promoting positive psychological characteristics and encouraging sustained participation in rehabilitation exercise. In particular, an autonomy-supportive AI coaching environment may enhance participants' grit and growthoriented mindset while reducing their intention to discontinue participation. Therefore, AI-based rehabilitation exercise programs should be designed and implemented to strengthen autonomy support and provide individualized feedback, thereby facilitating continuous participation and improving rehabilitation outcomes.
