Type: article
Abstract: Adolescence is a developmental stage marked by psychological and social changes, including increased sensitivity to various environmental stimuli. The peer environment is one of the factors that shapes how adolescents understand and respond to social experiences. This study aims to analyze the forms of emotional sensitivity in Student X and the role of the peer environment in shaping that sensitivity at MAN 1 Gresik. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subject, Student X, was selected through purposive sampling based on characteristics of emotional sensitivity in interactions with peers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Student X’s emotional sensitivity is characterized by a tendency to be easily offended, overthinking, interpreting peers’ jokes and comments negatively, feeling talked about or ostracized, and tending to suppress feelings and withdraw in socially uncomfortable situations. The peer environment plays a role through communication patterns, jokes, spontaneous comments, and peer acceptance and support. An environment that lacks emotional safety can reinforce Student X’s negative responses, while support from close friends and the guidance counselor helps create a sense of acceptance and comfort. Family conditions and social media use were also found to be related to Student X’s emotional sensitivity. A recommended intervention is cognitive restructuring combined with muhasabah spiritual counseling to develop more realistic thinking, self-awareness, and emotional response management.
