Abstract: Life after divorce presents women not only with emotional challenges but also with the responsibility of meeting economic needs, raising children, and providing them with an education. These circumstances require resilience to enable women to adapt and rebuild their lives as single parents. This study aims to analyze the positive and negative factors influencing widows’ resilience in supporting their children’s lives and to identify the strategies they employ in coping with post-divorce life. This study employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations of widowed women in Laden Village, Pamekasan District, Pamekasan Regency. The data were analyzed descriptively and interpretively through data reduction, thematic categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the informants’ resilience was shaped by their responsibilities toward their children, economic independence, self-esteem, support from family and friends, emotional regulation, and religiosity. Children served as the primary source of motivation for the informants to recover and maintain a future-oriented outlook. On the other hand, economic limitations, emotional distress resulting from divorce, potential social stigma, and limited access to resources were identified as factors that could hinder resilience. The study also found that religious activities served as a coping mechanism, providing peace of mind, hope, and strength in dealing with life’s challenges. Thus, widowhood does not merely signify a condition of vulnerability but can also provide an opportunity to develop independence and personal resilience in fulfilling family responsibilities.
