When Furniture Becomes a Medium for Shared Cognition
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This preprint defines the Aeon Mundi Regenerative Habitation collection and ARENrelational architecture as a design process for connecting built objects and environments tohuman–computer and human–robot interaction. AREN establishes the technologicalrelations among sensing, bounded memory, task representations, permissions, and roboticcoordination that facilitate shared cognition between people and artificial agents. Theargument connects environmental calibration, distributed cognition, human–robotinteraction, memory governance, and regenerative habitation. A cultivation-to-foodscenario illustrates how furniture and robotic transport are structured to supportcontinuity across planting, handling, preparation, and shared use while preserving humanoversight and voluntary participation. The preprint develops the Situated RelationalSubstrate as a provisional evaluation framework and distinguishes robotic adaptation, human learning, and shared operational conventions. The collection and AREN architectureremain conceptual; no integrated system or shared-consciousness outcome is claimed asdemonstrated.
