From:/To: Video Letters
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: From:/To: Video Letters traces an exchange of intimate, self-reflexive video letters between two old friends - a visual artist and an arts researcher — over the course of a year. The work mobilises the letter form as an imaginal letter-writing exercise in which meaning emerges through relational address, temporal exchange, and exploratory poetics. Situated at the intersection of the essay film, documentary, and video art, From:/To: develops videographic epistolarity as a creative mode of audiovisual inquiry into subjectivity, affect, and the unstable relationship between words and images. Ultimately, it foregrounds friendship as an encounter open to difference, surprise, and the unpredictable rhythm of deferred exchange.
