Abstract: Background : There are an estimated 100 million pet fish living in homes across the UK; given the widespread popularity of fish as pets, it is not surprising that many owners seek veterinary care for their aquatic companions. Aim of the article : This article provides readers with a comprehensive guide to approaching fish cases in first‐opinion practice, focusing on the common diseases found in koi and goldfish. Additionally, it highlights effective diagnostic and therapeutic treatments that can be applied in these cases.
