Pemberitahuan Penderitaan Yesus dalam Injil

Type: article
Abstract: This article examines Jesus’ passion predictions in the Synoptic Gospels as a narrative-theological device that reveals his identity and mission while forming the faith of the disciples. The study aims to explain three interrelated functions: prophetic, corrective, and formative. It employs qualitative library research, biblical-theological analysis, and narrative reading of Mark 8:31–33; 9:30–32; and 10:32–34 together with their parallels in Matthew and Luke. The findings show that the passion predictions do more than forecast Jesus’ future. They interpret suffering, death, and resurrection within the will of God; correct the disciples’ understanding that separates messiahship from the cross; and form their faith through a recurring pattern of prediction, misunderstanding, correction, and discipleship teaching. Mark emphasizes the disciples’ failure and the pedagogy of the way toward the cross, whereas Luke highlights the fulfillment of Scripture. These findings demonstrate that Christology and discipleship converge in recognizing the suffering Messiah, whose way forms disciples for obedience, self-denial, service, openness to correction, and resurrection hope.
