Efektivitas Terapi Mindfulness terhadap Kesehatan Mental dan Kesejahteraan Lansia: Systematic Literature Review
Year: 2026
Type: review
Study design: Systematic Review
Abstract: Background: The aging process in older adults often triggers mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders, which lead to a decline in overall quality of life. Mindfulness-based therapy has emerged as a flexible non-pharmacological intervention with potential to maintain psychological stability in the elderly. Objective: This study aims to map, analyze, and synthesize the effectiveness of various mindfulness therapy approaches on the mental health and well-being of older adults. Methods: This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA framework. Literature searches were conducted via Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Garuda/SINTA for publications spanning 2016 to 2026. A total of 14 sources meeting the inclusion criteria were synthesized using narrative-descriptive and tabular analyses. Results: Various mindfulness modalities—including Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBI), Mindfulness-Based Elder Care (MBEC), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Internet Mindfulness Meditation Intervention (IMMI), mindfulness counseling/exercises, and mindfulness yoga—generally demonstrated positive effects in reducing stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms, while improving sleep quality and psychological/spiritual well-being across diverse settings. However, the strength of evidence varied depending on study design (RCTs, quasi-experiments, community outreach), sample sizes, intervention duration, and measurement instruments. Conclusion: Mindfulness therapy holds strong potential as a safe and effective complementary non-pharmacological intervention in geriatric nursing care. Future research employing standardized experimental designs and larger sample sizes is recommended to further substantiate these findings.
