Abstract: This article analyzes Un estiu (2024), by Clàudia Serra, as a political artifact of memory. Rather than merely reconstructing the tragedy at the Els Alfacs campsite, the play reactivates its historical dimension by recovering silenced voices and exposing the structures of power and negligence behind the event. Combining elements of documentary theatre with fictional narrative strategies, the work challenges the primacy of the image as a vehicle of memory and proposes, instead, the word as a tool for critical remembrance. In doing so, it dismantles the spectacle of horror to foreground its concealed causes and responsibilities. The analysis underscores the play’s political force and the innovative articulation of form and content that sustains it.
