Abstract: This study aims to describe the reading abilities of grade II students and teacher strategies in overcoming reading difficulties at UPTD SD Inpres Bertinggi Kelapa Lima 3. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included grade II teachers, the principal, and students. The results show that the reading abilities of grade II students are still diverse. Some students have been able to read fluently, recognize letters, put words together, and understand the content of simple reading. However, there are still students who experience difficulties in reading, such as not being fluent in spelling, reading haltingly, and difficulty distinguishing letters that have similar shapes. assistance is also seen in the stage of reading syllables and words, although some students are already able to read simple sentences. Strategies used by teachers to address reading difficulties include spelling methods, shared reading, turn-taking, and providing repeated reading practice. Furthermore, teachers use learning media such as letter cards, word cards, and picture books to increase student interest and comprehension. Teachers also provide individualized guidance to students experiencing difficulties and provide additional time outside of class.
