On Queering Sex Robots, Academic Integrity and why Queering is not a Priority Claim. A Response to “Who Queered the Sex Robot.”
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: In this commentary, we respond to Oliver Bendel’s commentary “Who Queered the Sex Robot? Notes on Attribution and Conceptual History” (2026) on our article “Queering Sex Robots Beyond Diversifying Design? Insights from Queer Lacanian Psychoanalysis and New Materialism” (2026a). We first offer a brief overview of the critique the commentary presents on our article. Following, we respond with two key points: (1) the originality of our argument and remarks on the genealogy of queering sex robots and (2) the (feminist/queer) ethics and politics of citational practices.
