Abstract: Gross motor skills are an aspect of early childhood development that requires stimulation through play-based activities involving various body movements. This study aims to determine the effect of an obstacle course game on the gross motor skills of children aged 5–6 years at Cahaya Bunda Kindergarten, Padang. The study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consists of 20 children, divided into an experimental group (10 children) and a control group (10 children). The experimental group participated in an obstacle course game, while the control group engaged in a game involving following the teacher’s instructions (similar to "Simon Says"). The study was conducted over five sessions: one pretest, three intervention sessions for the experimental group, and one posttest. Data were collected through observation and performance-based tests, then analyzed using an Independent Samples t-test via IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The results show that the mean score for the experimental group increased from 11.90 in the pretest to 21.10 in the posttest, while the control group’s mean score rose from 11.80 to 16.20. Hypothesis testing yielded values of t = 9.030, df = 18, and p < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Consequently, an obstacle course game can serve as an alternative learning activity to stimulate the gross motor skills of children aged 5–6 years.
