La construcción social del camarín del Carmen en San Luis Potosí, México
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This article analyzes the social construction of the space known as the camarín in the Temple of El Carmen in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. We hold that it is not a camarín built ex professo, since neither its location within the temple nor its architectural and spatial configuration justify such a classification; it was designated as a camarín in the 20th century. We propose that this conceptual transformation began with the academic works, but was later accepted and appropriated by the clergy and the congregation.
