Photovoltaic‐Hydrovoltaic Synergistic Luminescent Solar Concentrators for Weather‐Adaptive Energy Harvesting and Self‐Powered Sensing

Abstract: ABSTRACT Luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) present an aesthetically viable pathway for building‐integrated photovoltaics, yet their practical deployment remains constrained by luminophore defect‐induced photoluminescence losses and diminished functionality under rainy conditions. To overcome these limitations, photovoltaic‐hydrovoltaic synergistic LSCs (PHS‐LSCs) for energy harvesting under both sunny and rainy conditions are proposed based on defect‐passivated perovskite‐poly(vinylidene fluoride) composite films laminated with fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP). The incorporation of tetraethylenepentamine acetate enables multisite in situ passivation of surface defects in perovskite luminophores, thereby affording the PHS‐LSCs a competitive external optical efficiency of 8.8% ± 0.3%. During rainy conditions, the perovskite‐poly(vinylidene fluoride) composite film significantly improves hydrovoltaic performance of PHS‐LSCs via enhancing electrostatically induced charge density through dipolar reorientation in the high‐polar‐phase perovskite‐poly(vinylidene fluoride) dielectric interlayer, yielding an output voltage of 310 V and an instantaneous power of 58.3 ± 4.2 mW (67.5% improvement compared with pristine FEP‐based devices). The dual‐mode energy output is used to power low‐consumption sensors, demonstrating a weather‐adaptive energy‐harvesting platform for smart buildings and intelligent agriculture.
