Transcriptomic profiling of A549 cells following acrylonitrile exposure

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This project aims to investigate transcriptomic alterations associated with acrylonitrile (AN) exposure in human A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells. Acrylonitrile is a widely used industrial chemical and environmental pollutant with potential toxicological effects on the respiratory system. Understanding the transcriptional responses of pulmonary cells to acrylonitrile exposure is important for investigating its potential molecular toxicity and biological effects. Human A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells were used as the experimental model and divided into two groups: an untreated control group (BL) and an acrylonitrile-treated group (AN). Cells in the treatment group were exposed to 100 uM acrylonitrile for 24 hours, while cells in the control group remained untreated. Each group consisted of three samples, resulting in a total of six samples for RNA sequencing. RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was performed to characterize gene expression profiles in both experimental groups. The sequencing data were generated to enable comparisons of transcriptional patterns between untreated and acrylonitrile-exposed cells. Subsequent bioinformatics analyses included data preprocessing, gene expression quantification, differential expression analysis, and functional enrichment analysis to investigate biological processes and molecular pathways potentially associated with acrylonitrile exposure. This dataset contains paired-end RNA sequencing data from six A549 cell samples, including three control samples and three acrylonitrile-treated samples. The deposited raw sequencing data provide a resource for reproducible transcriptomic analysis, comparative gene expression studies, and further investigation of cellular responses to acrylonitrile exposure. These data may support future research in environmental toxicology, chemical exposure assessment, and pulmonary cell biology.
