Abstract: The article examines the dynamics of sediment deposition at the intake section of the Qarshi Main Canal (QMC) under damless (free) water intake from the Amudarya River, together with the role of dredgers in the overall volume of cleaning works. Based on field monitoring data, the distribution of sediment along the canal length, as well as the technical condition and placement of the fleet of 17 dredgers along the canal, were analysed. It was found that the PK 0-40 segment of the canal intake accumulates more than 85% of the total sediment volume, making it the most heavily loaded section. Recommendations are proposed for the rational placement of dredgers along the canal and for adjusting the cleaning schedule to seasonal sediment inflow.
