A Review on the Role of Hrm in Building Future-ready Organizations Through Continuous Learning and Knowledge Management
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: In an era characterized by accelerated technological disruption, volatility, and economic shifting, building future-ready organizations has emerged as an urgent strategic imperative for global enterprises. This critical review investigates the pivotal role of Human Resource Management (HRM) in orchestrating continuous learning architectures and robust Knowledge Management (KM) systems to foster organizational agility, absorptive capacity, and long-term competitiveness. Synthesizing benchmark empirical literature published between 2021 and 2026 across 16 core studies, this paper constructs an integrative conceptual framework linking strategic HRM practices—such as micro-learning pathways, experiential upskilling, and AI-driven skill diagnostics—with advanced KM mechanisms including tacit knowledge codification and cross-functional communities of practice. Utilizing structural equation modeling meta-synthesis and qualitative thematic extraction, the findings demonstrate that continuous learning and knowledge transfer jointly account for 58% of the variance in organizational future-readiness (R² = 0.58), mediated significantly by absorptive capacity (β = 0.36, p < 0.001) and psychological safety (β = 0.41, p < 0.001). Furthermore, this review outlines a multi-level governance framework for integrating digital infrastructure, strategic leadership, and learning cultures. The manuscript concludes with concrete managerial recommendations and directions for future empirical inquiry.
