Implementasi Bimbingan Kelompok: Trauma Healing Pascabencana Galodo di SMPN 3 Batipuh Selatan

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: The flash flood (galodo) disaster in Nagari Guguak Malalo, South Batipuh Subdistrict, Tanah Datar Regency, has caused psychological distress among students at SMPN 3 South Batipuh. The current trauma healing support is insufficient because the number of guidance and counseling teachers is limited, making it difficult to reach all students in need of support. This community service activity aims to restore the students’ psychological well-being following the flash flood disaster through group counseling sessions using a community-based research (CBR) approach. The activity was conducted in four stages: opening, storytelling session, group sharing, and closing, with a total duration of approximately 60 minutes. Approximately 20 seventh- and eighth-grade students from SMPN 3 Batipuh Selatan in Jorong Baing, Nagari Guguak Malalo, participated in this activity on June 19, 2026. Evaluation was conducted through participatory observation and student reflections at the end of the activity. The results showed that about three-quarters of the participants were actively engaged in the storytelling and group sharing sessions, while the remaining students followed the entire sequence, though they tended to be quiet. Students also demonstrated increased emotional openness when recounting their disaster experiences, and communication between students and the implementation team continued even after the activity ended. This activity serves as an example of community-based group counseling services for post-disaster trauma recovery among adolescents, and can also serve as a model for other schools in disaster-prone areas facing limitations in counseling staff.
