Extensive Stray‐Dog Mauling as Major Contaminated Crush Trauma Causing Severe Rhabdomyolysis, Acute Kidney Injury, and Overt Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation: Recovery Without Renal Replacement Therapy
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: An adolescent male developed severe rhabdomyolysis, acute kidney injury, overt disseminated intravascular coagulation, and respiratory fluid overload after extensive stray-dog mauling. The course reflected overlapping traumatic, inflammatory, and infectious mechanisms. He recovered without renal replacement therapy through source control, individualized antimicrobials, conservative renal support, and timely transition to de-resuscitation.
