¿Cómo puedo cambiarme el nombre y apellido en Perú? Guía para realizar el proceso Judicial.
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Name changes (given name or surname) in Peru are not resolved by mere will or through administrative proceedings. Article 29 of the Civil Code conditions such changes on a justified motive, judicial authorization, publication, and registration. This article is presented as a complementary perspective to that of Huanca Villalta and Huanca Villalta (2026) regarding the name change process as a fundamental component of identity. It adopts the viewpoints of both the applicant and the lawyer intervening in the judicial process, converting them into two routes within the same case file, insofar as it expands identity and addresses discrimination. The first perspective accounts for six stages that describe the path of the applicant, client, or represented party. The second perspective considers eight stages that describe the path of the litigating attorney in the judicial process.
