Abstract: The paper considers modern numerical methods for two-point boundary value problems for second-order ordinary differential equations: the finite difference method, the finite element method, the shooting method and Chebyshev spectral collocation. Their accuracy, order of convergence and stability are compared on a test problem with a known exact solution, and practical recommendations for choosing a method are given.
