Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This study aims to describe students’ perceptions and attitudes toward the implementation of school rules at SMK NU 1 Slawi, particularly in relation to time discipline, dress and appearance, and mobile phone use during learning activities. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews with students and teachers, and documentation. The data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification, while data credibility was examined through technique and source triangulation. The findings indicate that students’ perceptions of school rules were generally positive. Students understood that school rules were necessary to develop discipline, responsibility, order, and a comfortable learning environment. However, students’ compliance was not always consistent, as violations were still found in time discipline, dress and appearance, and mobile phone use. Factors influencing compliance included self-awareness, peer influence, supervision, and students’ understanding of the rules. The novelty of this study lies in its descriptive examination of students’ perceptions and attitudes toward the implementation of school rules in everyday school situations within a vocational school context. The findings indicate that the existence of school rules needs to be accompanied by consistent supervision, guidance, and habituation so that students’ compliance can gradually develop into internal awareness.
