Abstract: The article examines the professional, intellectual and civic engagement of older women as a social mechanism for maintaining quality of life in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The relevance of the study stems from the demographic growth of older age groups, the significant place of women in the structure of the aging population, and the need to move from viewing older people as an object of social support to understanding them as active subjects of social life. Particular attention is paid to working older women of Karakalpakstan who remain in professional and social demand, women scientists, educators, writers, journalists and cultural workers. Using the examples of Gulaysha Esemuratova, Sarygul Bahadirova, Rawiya Esemuratova, Ayimkhan Shamuratova and other representatives of the region, the article analyzes the forms in which professional, intellectual and cultural capital is preserved in older age. The research materials were official statistics, recent studies on active aging and quality of life, scholarly publications by researchers from Karakalpakstan and Uzbekistan, and biographical and institutional sources. Methods of analysis and synthesis, comparative, statistical and content analysis, and biographical and sociogerontological approaches were used. It is shown that professional longevity, mentoring, participation in public and cultural work, education and intergenerational interaction can be regarded as important resources for the social integration and quality of life of older women.
