Abstract: The article presents the effect of sowing the sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) cultivars "Qara shahzada", "Tashkent-122" and "Sadaf" at three dates — 1 May, 10 May and 20 May — on plant growth and yield components. Seed emergence was 96–99% in all treatments and showed no appreciable dependence on sowing date. Delayed sowing increased plant height in "Qara shahzada" from 101.1 cm to 114.0 cm, while reducing the number of branches from 7 to 3 and the number of capsules per plant from 70 to 42, that is by 40%. Among the cultivars, the highest 1000-seed weight was recorded in "Tashkent-122" (3.2–3.4 g) and the highest number of seeds per capsule in "Sadaf" (117–131 seeds). In terms of the calculated conditional seed weight, the best results were obtained at the 1 May sowing date (15.04 g per plant on average).
