Abstract: This article highlights the methodology for developing the cognitive competencies of future teachers based on integrating the content of pedagogical and psychological sciences. The relevance of the research is determined by the need to prepare a specialist capable of analyzing knowledge, applying it to a pedagogical situation, arguing, solving problems, and reflectively evaluating their activities rather than memorizing it in higher pedagogical education. The study combined systemic, competency-based, activity-oriented, and psychological-pedagogical approaches; methods of theoretical analysis, pedagogical observation, diagnostic tasks, questionnaires, expert assessment, and comparison of experimental results were used. The empirical base included diagnostic and methodological work with 384 students studying at the faculties of foreign languages of Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan named after Nizami and Urgench State University. The results showed that when the content of pedagogical and psychological disciplines is linked to problem situations, cases, reflexive tasks, and digital sources, the content, operational, motivational-reflexive, and communicative components of cognitive competence develop together. The article proposes a step-by-step methodological model for developing these competencies and indicators for its evaluation.
