Abstract: The article addresses the problem of developing the professional competence of future teachers through the integration of project-based and contextual approaches. The aim of the study is to scientifically substantiate and experimentally test a model for the project-contextual development of professional competence in students of teacher education programs. The study employed analysis, modeling, observation, questionnaire surveys, a pedagogical experiment and mathematical and statistical data processing. The developed model comprises diagnostic, motivational-cognitive, technological and creative-reflective stages. The results of the experiment showed positive dynamics in the indicators of students’ readiness for project-contextual activity.
