Abstract: The expression of ecological content in language is studied in linguistics within the framework of ecolinguistics and ecological discourse. In Karakalpak, however, this issue has not become the subject of dedicated research, which points to the need to study it. The research material comprises Karakalpak folk proverbs and sayings, folklore units and lexical units with ecological content used in modern ecological discourse. Semantic, comparative and ecolinguistic methods of analysis were applied. The eco- component is more productive in naming events, movements, initiatives, projects and environmentally active subjects, whereas the component jasıl (“green”) is productively used to denote space, ideas, initiatives, knowledge, signs and ecological orientation. The productive use of both components shows that ecological vocabulary is expanding not only quantitatively but also semantically and functionally.
