Abstract: The article examines the development of women's entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan in 1991–2021. The historiographical analysis combines domestic studies, the institutional approach and the gender model of entrepreneurship. A periodization of the changes in support mechanisms for women's business is proposed on the basis of legislation and published archival data. The distinctions between economic independence, family employment and home-based work are clarified. Recommendations are formulated for assessing the sustainability of enterprises and for developing the source base.
