From Learning to Action: Translating Ethiopia's Primary Health Care Experience into Implementation Lessons for Nigeria through South–South Knowledge Translation
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This poster presents lessons from Ethiopia’s primary health care (PHC) experience and explores how these lessons can inform Nigeria’s context through South–South knowledge translation. It outlines a learning process involving PHC training, prioritisation of Nigeria’s needs, an Ethiopia field immersion, exchange among health leaders, contextual analysis, and implementation planning. Three priorities are proposed for Nigeria: sustainable and accountable PHC financing, a community-oriented health workforce, and decentralised leadership and accountability. The poster highlights the importance of adapting lessons to local realities rather than copying another country’s approach.
