Abstract: This study was motivated by the relatively low problem-solving abilities of students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS). This condition is associated with learning activities that are still dominated by teacher explanations, limited student participation, and the suboptimal use of the school environment as a learning resource. Therefore, a learning method that provides direct learning experiences and encourages students to actively engage in problem-solving activities is needed. This study aims to determine the effect of Outdoor Learning on the problem-solving abilities of fourth-grade students at SDN Pondok Petir 03. This research employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design, in which students’ abilities were measured before and after the treatment. The sample consisted of 35 fourth-grade students from class IV-A, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through essay tests administered as pretests and posttests. The tests consisted of eight questions designed to measure four aspects of problem-solving based on Polya’s stages: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back at the solution. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, and N-Gain analysis. The descriptive analysis showed that the students’ average problem-solving score increased from 47.58 on the pretest to 70.89 on the posttest. The Wilcoxon test yielded a Z value of -5.198 with a significance value of 0.001, which was below 0.05. These results indicate a statistically significant difference in students’ problem-solving abilities before and after the implementation of Outdoor Learning. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis yielded a score of 0.4391, or 43.91%, which was categorized as moderately effective. These findings suggest that Outdoor Learning can support the development of students’ problem-solving abilities through direct environmental observation, group discussions, problem identification, solution planning, and evaluation of problem-solving outcomes in IPAS learning. Therefore, Outdoor Learning can be used as an alternative learning method to develop elementary school students’ problem-solving abilities.
